Terms of Service
Stonetavern is a free, non-commercial World of Warcraft fan community, reachable at stonetavern.app. These terms cover everything we run: this website, the game realms Elwynn and Barrens, the Stonetavern launcher and the game client downloads, our Discord, and the social-media channels we operate.
The agreement between us has three parts: these terms, the house rules for the realms, and the Privacy Policy. When you create an account, on this site, through Discord or in the launcher, you tick a box that says you accept them. If you only visit the website, these terms apply while you do.
1. A fan project, not affiliated with Blizzard
Stonetavern is an independent, fan-made project. It is not created by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. World of Warcraft and related marks are the property of their respective owners, and we claim no ownership of them. If a rights holder asks us to stop something, we stop it. That can mean closing a realm, and nobody has a claim against us because of it. Rights holders can reach us at the address at the end of this page.
2. Who can play
You need to be at least 16 years old to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Keep your password to yourself. If you share your login, we will not untangle who did what.
- You may hold more than one account. How they may be played at the same time is in the house rules.
- You can stop playing at any time. To have your account and its characters deleted, write to us from the email address on the account. If the account was banned, we keep a short note of that ban so it cannot be dodged by starting over.
4. The house rules
In the game, the house rules apply: no bots, no multiboxing, no real-money trading, no GDKP, no knowingly used exploits, no harassment. Staff enforce them by hand, from a warning or a timeout up to closing every account of the person who broke them. Every decision can be appealed by email, and a person looks at it again.
5. Nothing in the game is property
Accounts, characters, items, gold and any other progress in the game have no money value, belong to nobody, and cannot be sold, bought or claimed. We may roll back characters, remove items, repair the economy after a bug, reset a realm, or close it. When we can say so in advance, it is in the changelog first. None of this gives anyone a claim to compensation.
6. Donations
Stonetavern is free. A donation is a gift toward the cost of running the servers. It buys nothing: no item, no rank, no perk, no advantage, and no promise that a realm stays open. Donations are not refunded. If a payment was made by mistake, write to us and we will look at it.
7. The launcher and the game client
- The launcher and the client packages are free. You install and run them at your own risk.
- The launcher updates itself and the game files in the folder you chose, automatically, from our download server. That is how every player stays on the same version.
- They include software by others (for example butler by itch.io and VanillaFixes), each under its own license.
- Do not hand out a modified launcher or client as if it came from us.
8. Our content and social channels
We publish original content (videos, images and text about our community) to our own accounts on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, including through scheduling tools we run ourselves. You may enjoy and share it; you may not republish it as your own or for commercial gain without our consent.
Some of that content is filmed on our realms. Your character, its name, your guild name and what you write in public channels can appear in it. If you want yours left out, tell us and we will leave it out of anything new.
9. Outside the game
On this website, in our Discord and in our social channels, do not harass anyone, break the law, try to disrupt our services or infringe other people’s rights. We may remove content or restrict access that breaks these terms. Discord’s own terms apply there as well.
10. No warranty
Everything we run is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We are a hobby community and cannot promise that realms, downloads or the website are always available.
11. Changes
When these terms or the house rules change, we write it in the changelog and update the date at the top of this page. If you keep playing after a change, the new version applies to you.
