Turtle WoW Is Gone — Where to Go Next in 2026

Turtle WoW is gone. If you logged in one day and found the lights off, you already know the feeling: not just lost progress, but a lost place. People are asking the same question across every Discord and subreddit right now — where do I go next?

Most guides will hand you a list of other Vanilla+ servers and call it a day. We'll be more honest than that, even though we want you here.

You don't need custom content. You need a server that won't disappear.

The thing that hurt about Turtle wasn't the missing custom zones. It was that a place thousands of people called home could end. That's the real lesson of a shutdown, and it's the question worth asking any new server: what happens to my characters in two years?

Custom content is fun. It is also a treadmill — more systems to maintain, more reasons to wipe, more ways for a project to burn out or sell out. A server living off donations and a cash shop has a business to keep alive. When the money dries up, so does the realm.

What Stonetavern actually is

We run pure Vanilla 1.12.1. No custom zones, no custom items, no Vanilla+. One deliberate exception: Horde and Alliance share chat, groups and dungeons — because a small community is one table, not two.

"But it's so small"

Yes — and that's the point. A small, honest realm where the same faces show up beats a crowded one you can't trust. You came from Turtle because it felt like a home, not a theme park. We're trying to be exactly that: the game, kept, by people who aren't trying to sell you anything.

If that sounds like what you actually lost, come see for yourself. Grab the ready-to-play client, roll a character, and say hello.

The fastest way in is the [Discord](https://discord.gg/aAfsM8Q5Sp) — that's where the regulars are, and where you'll get a straight answer to "is this place for me?"
